Graduate school admission inquiry

This is Professor Seongman Bae (clinical psychology) of the Department of Psychology at Dankook University's Graduate School of General Studies.

The following Q&A are frequently asked questions regarding admission to this graduate school.   □ Admission Information

    (1) What is the screening schedule?

    As the admission schedule differs every semester, please refer to the Graduate School Admissions website.

    (2) How is the evaluation conducted?

    Evaluation consists of 1. Document screening (50%) and 2. Major examination and oral interview (50%).

    - Document review (application form, resume, study plan)

The academic plan consists of motives and goals, future research plans, and other items.

    - Major exam and oral interview

​ In order to evaluate major knowledge and major English proficiency, the major exam is given in multiple choice and subjective format.

The oral interview is attended by three interviewers and lasts about 15 minutes. The interview consists of questions about the motivation for applying and the specific major.                                             

    (3) What majors are opened?

    Department of Psychology Opened Major ⇒ Master's Program: Choose 1 from Clinical and Counseling Psychology, Neurological and Cognitive Psychology, Doctoral Program: Psychology

    If you wish to apply to the laboratory, you can apply through 'Clinical and Counseling Psychology' at the time of application.

    The detailed majors are integrated into clinical and counseling psychology, but clinical and counseling are selected separately .

                  

    (4) Do I need an official English proficiency test score?

    Although official English proficiency is not required when applying, basic English proficiency is not required because major books and foreign thesis in English are dealt with after admission to graduate school.

    (5) How many people are selected?

    The number of applicants varies each semester.

    (6) Can other majors apply?

    There are no restrictions on support.

    However, required courses related to the psychology major (introduction to psychology, psychological statistics, research methodology or experimental psychology, etc.) and elective courses in psychology major (clinical psychology, abnormal psychology,  

    Applicants who have completed psychological tests, counseling psychology, cognitive psychology, etc.) are given priority. Therefore, students with other majors or similar majors should not complete undergraduate courses.

    Applicants who do not apply are advised to complete these courses before application submission.  Recommended .  

    (7) Do I need to contact the professor before applying?

    I hope hasigil support after full consideration of the suitability of the applicant and the laboratory and research topics of interest, leading to the graduate school professors via e-mail in advance     and  We encourage you to inquire about the research topic .

    (8) Is it possible to go to graduate school while working?

    Master's programs are not possible because they are conducted full-time.  In the case of a doctoral program, please discuss it separately with your advisor.  

 

  □ Detailed major

    (1) Is the curriculum different depending on the specific major?

    It is divided into common subjects and major subjects. If you apply to the laboratory  Clinical Psychologist (Korean Society of Clinical Psychology), Mental Health Clinical Psychologist Grade 1      (Ministry of Health and Welfare)  You will take classes according to the clinical psychology major curriculum.

    There are 4 to 6 courses per semester, and you can choose up to 3 courses to take.

    (In the case of the Counseling Psychology major, there are overlapping courses, but under the guidance of the Counseling Psychology advisor, you will take the courses required to acquire the Counseling Psychologist Levels 1 and 2.)

    (2) What certifications can I acquire after majoring in clinical psychology?

    Typically, you can acquire a clinical psychology specialist (Korea Clinical Psychological Association), a mental health clinical psychologist (the Ministry of Health and Welfare), and a clinical psychologist (the Human Resources Development Service of Korea).

    In addition, according to the person's choice, health psychology specialists (Korea Health Psychological Association), criminal psychologists (Korean Society for Social and Personality Psychology), youth counselors (Ministry of Gender Equality and Family), etc.

    (3) Can clinical psychology specialist training hours be recognized during the graduate program?

    By completing classes, participation in conferences, and various practical activities under the guidance of a clinical psychology expert (advisor), up to 1000 hours of training can be recognized .

  □ Scholarship system

    (1) What is the scholarship system?

     1. Do you select undergraduate interns?

    Currently, undergraduate interns are selected irregularly, and the availability and number of internships vary by semester. In case of selection, it is posted on the DKU Portal and the laboratory website.
